With Christmas now just days away, it’s fair to say the party season is in full swing. Extra restaurant visits, indulgent dishes and increased alcohol consumption are all typical festive pleasures, but they can leave many feeling decidedly uncomfortable.
During an appearance on Lorraine, Dr Hilary Jones recognised this as a widespread concern during the festive period, noting that patients frequently consult their GP reporting that their ‘bowel habit has changed’ – hardly surprising considering how dramatically our eating patterns shift over Christmas.
Dr Hilary highlighted that richer fare can readily trigger bloating and constipation, particularly as the festive weeks progress. Whilst emphasising that prevention is always preferable, he did draw attention to a supplement option for those already experiencing the consequences of seasonal excess.
He referenced a product called Debloat and Detox by Dr Vegan. The supplement is priced at £18.99 as a single purchase for one pouch, equating to approximately 65p daily from the Dr Vegan website when used over a month.
Speaking on Lorraine on December 15, the TV doctor said: “There’s something called Dr Vegan’s Debloat and Detox, which contains things like artichoke leaf extract and milk thistle, which are traditionally meant to be good for the gall bladder, botanicals, amino acids.”
Debloat & Detox

For bloating after eating, a healthy liver, and removing toxins from your body, Debloat & Detox is a high strength blend of botanicals and amino-acids including Milk Thistle (2500mg), Silymarin, Fennel, Dandelion, Burdock and L-Glutamine.
Debloat and Detox is formulated to aid digestion following meals, support liver function and assist the body in processing toxins, according to the brand. The supplement contains a combination of botanicals and amino acids, including Milk Thistle (2,500mg), Silymarin, Fennel, Dandelion, Burdock and L-Glutamine, reports the Mirror.
Components such as artichoke are recognised for their antioxidant qualities and have traditionally been employed to aid digestion, intestinal function and the liver’s natural detoxification mechanisms, the website states. The capsules are straightforward to use, with guidance to take two capsules daily, either simultaneously or at different times, with or following main meals, or prior to alcohol consumption.
The manufacturer advises adhering to the recommended dosage for optimal outcomes. Nevertheless, Dr Vegan isn’t the sole brand providing a bloating remedy. LookFantastic also has The Nue Co. Debloat and Prebiotic Bundle for £98, which offers ‘two dietary supplements’ that contain digestive enzymes, prebiotics and probiotics, according to the site.
Boots also has the Artah, Digest + Debloat Tincture 100ml for £32 on its website. These are intended to supplement the diet, according to the website, and are said to be perfect for before or after a meal.
Returning to Dr Vegan, numerous customers have documented their experiences with the Debloat and Detox supplement. One individual, Carolyn, wrote: “Definitely helps with digestion and lessens feelings of bloating, after my evening meal… Take them religiously!”

Another customer, Nicki, commented: “I have suffered with IBS symptoms for a year now, and in one month my bloating and constipation have almost gone – I’ve had one or two instances this month compared to every single day. It is quite pricey, but it compares well to other similar products, and the ingredients are natural and high quality. I can’t imagine I’ll ever stop taking them.”
That said, not every product suits everyone, as another shopper noted: “I used this for 30 days and found no difference. On a positive, despite the capsules being large, they are easy to swallow.”
The majority of customers were satisfied, though, as Melanie explained: “Less bloating and stomach pain after eating, and no uncomfortable, hard full tummy that made it impossible to do sit-ups. I will be repeating the order when it comes to renewal and have been really impressed.”
