Tromso sporting director Lars Petter Kaemer-Andressen admits he expects players to be sold in the winter window amid Rangers interest in Jens Hjerto-Dahl. It comes as Joe Rothwell looks to be nearing an exit.

Danny Rohl has admitted that he has drawn up a list of key positions he would like to strengthen the spine of team with a new centre-back, ball-dominating centre-midfielder and striker. Midfielder Hjerto-Dahl is reportedly a player of interest to the Ibrox recruitment team having impressed for both club and country in recent months.

The Norwegian U21 international was previously on Sheffield United and Sunderland’s agenda in the summer. Tromso are said to be holding out for a fee in the region of £3.5million amid rising interest in the 20-year-old talent.

Asked about interest in rising talent Hjerto-Dahl, Kaemer-Andressen told Norwegian outlet AID : “It is very positive that there is great interest in these players and that they are valued as highly as they are. I believe there will be at least one sale this winter.”

In terms of outgoings at Ibrox, Record Sport understand Sheffield United are in pole position to land Rothwell in January. The English Championship side is pushing to land the Rangers midfielder and other key targets to get up the table and back into the promotion picture.

Rothwell has a wealth of experience in the Championship, where he won the title with Leeds United and helped Southampton with the play-off. And former Blades striker Brian Deane has urged his former club to make a move for the 30-year-old just months after he moved north to work under Russell Martin.

He told the Yorkshire Post: “I think that would be a good signing for them because I think they need that kind of discipline, they need somebody who’s a bit of an organiser.

“Funny enough, I watched a little bit of the game the other day against West Brom and I actually thought they’ve got a good squad, but somebody like him would be a good addition.

“If they can get a run together after Christmas, they could still end up in the play-offs, you know. They’ve got as good a squad as anybody in that division, I think.”
