Coronation Street star Harriet Bibby has been declared love by one of her co-stars, as she was heard talking about the exit of another of her castmates.

The actress, who is best known for playing Summer Spellman in the ITV soap, has been named in the 40-strong cast list for the upcoming Corrie and Emmerdale crossover, dubbed Corriedale, which is set to air on Monday, January 5.

It was announced earlier this year that both long-running shows would become one in an hour-long episode, dubbed Corriedale, that is set to kick off the network’s new ‘soap power hour’, which will see Emmerdale and Corrie air in half-hour instalments every weeknight.

To mark the change, producers, scriptwriters and production teams have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire, but with the horror that unfolds linking them forever.

While the full storyline is being kept under wraps, it was previously revealed that a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up would be at the centre of the drama, leaving the lives of those from the cobbles and the Dales at risk. In the chaotic aftermath, characters from both shows calling for help in the darkness as the emergency services arrive at the scene on a country road near the village of Hotten.

Harriet was seen at the premiere of Corriedale, at The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the UK City of Culture 2025, on Tuesday (December 16), hitting the red carpet alongside her Corrie co-stars and the cast of Emmerdale.

Following the event, the soap star, who joined the long-running show back in 2020, took to Instagram with a string of snaps from the the special occasion and captioned the post: “What a day with had yesterday with a great mix of the @coronationstreet and @emmerdale teams!

“I cannot wait for the #corriedale crossover ep – you are in for a real treat! I’m so glad I get to be a tiny part in such an iconic piece of television.”

Her Corrie co-stars were quick to respond, with Gareth Pierce (Todd Grimshaw) commenting: “Love you.” Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) also replied: “Bloody gorgeous,” while Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew) posted a string of red heart emojis in the comments section.

And speaking of Daniel, Harriet spoke to the Manchester Evening News about his exit, as he confirmed he’d be bowing out of the role of Billy after 11 years. He said in a statement in May: “I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work. I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.”

Asked about Daniel’s exit, after he finished filming on the famous cobbles in mid-November, Harriet told us: “It’s really strange not having him in work. Dan is such a big character, away from the show anyway, like he’s such a personality.

“So to not be filming with him is really strange, because since I joined the show, he’s been there every day, and we’ve filmed a lot together. So I’ve absolutely loved working with him, and hopefully in the future we’ll work with him again.” She later added: “It’s a lot quieter in the building without Dan and Channique [Sterling-Brown]… It’s so much quieter.”
