Karen says she joined the show because she’d lost her
confidence. “I’ve found a spark and a passion and a fight in me that I’ve
not had for many years”, she says.
If like me, you’re wondering how one dances to Texas’s Inner
Smile in the style of ballroom or Latin… the answer is obviously with a
sped-up, club version played by an in-house band (it is Strictly, after all).
Picked because Karen is a massive fan of the Scottish band
and friends with lead singer Sharleen Spiteri, the track serves as the perfect
backdrop to a routine that is full of joy.
They’re wearing what I can only describe as camp
military-style, bejewelled pyjamas.
Fabulous.
There’s turns, slides, and a tremendous amount of fancy
footwork.
Shirley says it was a little bit out of sync in some places,
although she liked it, but Anton says it was Carlos who couldn’t keep up. He
adds that it was “just divine”.
“That was the best bits of you, absolutely
magnificent,” he says.
Now for the all-important scores:
Craig: 8
Motsi: 10
Shirley: 9
Anton: 10
Total: 37
It’s the lowest score of the night so far.
