Brad Arthur is backing his son and new Hull FC recruit Jake Arthur to take his game to the next level at the Black and Whites next year and has offered his own take on the club’s recruitment for the 2026 season.

The half-back is one of eight new signings made by John Cartwright and co. at Hull, linking up with the Yorkshire outfit after a spell at NRL club Newcastle Knights.

Training since day one of pre-season, Arthur is set to lead the team alongside Aidan Sezer next term and is getting to grips with his new teammates this pre-season, who finished their first block of training on Friday ahead of the Christmas break.

Speaking to Hull Live, Arthur Senior, who will coach Leeds Rhinos once again this year, said on his son: “Jake is really enjoying his time over there under Carty and he’s got a lot of good players around him.

“I think they’ve recruited really well in terms of the depth of their squad and on paper, if they can all be healthy, then they’ve got a really good squad and list. For Jake, he’s training with Seze and doing a bit of work with him and with his experience, he can only get better and learn from him.”

Arthur played a role in landing his son to Super League – a move that certainly helps the dynamics of the family, with the player’s sister also now based in the UK.

“It’s nice to just be able to pick up the phone at a normal time in the day and talk to him, instead of like four o’clock in the morning,” Arthur added. “It’s nice to have him over here.

“It’s good for his mum and his sister as well to have our family a bit stronger, a bit tighter and a bit closer. I’ve still got one lad back in Australia, but Jake has settled in well and again is really enjoying his time over here.”

On his start to life at Hull FC, Arthur, who joins fellow new recruits Sam Lisone, Joe Batchelor, James Bell and the like, told Hull Live back in October: “I’m really enjoying it. Everyone has been really welcoming and there’s a really good vibe around the place.

“There’s a really good community around here and training has been good. I think there’s a real quality side here. There are a lot of good players that I’ve watched in the NRL and then in the Super League as well.

“Once we get everyone on the park all together at the same time, I think we can really build something and get some good connections going.”
