One of Strictly Come Dancing’s professional dancers has been forced to speak out after rumours started to spread that she has quit the hit show.
The final of the BBC One dance contest’s 2025 series took place on Saturday night (December 20) with former Lioness Karen Carney and professional dancer Carlos Gu being crowned champions following the public vote.
They fought off competition from their fellow finalists, actress and West End star Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin, and social media star George Clarke and Alexis Warr, to lift the coveted Glitterball trophy during an emotional end to the popular programme’s latest run.
After she was announced as the winner, Karen said: “I can’t believe it. I just want to say thank you to everybody that has supported our journey, and supported us. Thank you to this wonderful gentleman, we are a team and I couldn’t have done it without you. It’s been the biggest privilege and honour. I’m literally lost for words, I’m so sorry.”
Professional dancer Carlos then told her: “I love you and thank you for being so incredible this whole journey, you taught me so much, and we are completely two different characters, but we challenged each other, we helped each other. We never gave up on each other.
“And thank you for changing my life.” He added: “To the boys and girls at home watching this dream big and be proud and never give up, because you never know.”

The Strictly cast and crew have since been sharing messages to congratulate the winners and reflected on another jam-packed series. But for Jowita Przystal, she has had to address confusion that she is leaving the show.
On Saturday night, the final also included a group number from the 2025 cast and it saw Jowita reunited with her celebrity dance partner, Ross King, for the first time since they left the competition back in week three. Alongside a selfie of the pair, she wrote on her Instagram Story: “Last dance partner on Strictly floor @therossking.”
It was then on Sunday morning (December 21) that Jowita returned to social media addressing her Strictly future. Alongside a picture of her and her fellow pro dancers, the 2022 Strictly champion said: “So grateful for being a part of the best show on TV.
“And just to clarify my last post, it was about my last dance with Ross, not me leaving the show. Hopefully far from my last dance on that dance floor [heart emoji].”
