A passionate amateur photographer has been recognised in a nationwide competition celebrating Scotland’s abundance of wildlife and natural environment.
Retiree Margaret Dewar from Motherwell took part in the photography initiative launched by premium housebuilder David Wilson Homes which was designed to inspire local residents to pause and appreciate the natural beauty around them, while celebrating the diverse wildlife and nature that share their community.
Margaret’s simple, yet beautiful image of the changing autumnal colours was captured while she was out for a walk in Strathclyde Country Park.
It was one of three winning entries selected from submissions received from across Scotland. Judges commended its simplicity and authenticity in capturing the country’s natural scenic beauty.

Margaret said: “I live close to Strathclyde Country Park and often spend my time walking through the area, enjoying the changing seasonal colours and the serenity it offers.
“This photograph is a testament to the beauty that surrounds us throughout Scotland at all times of the year, but especially in autumn. During this season, the trees turn such spectacular colours and, when the sun is shining, they reflect perfectly on the water.
“I am an avid amateur photographer and a member of the Motherwell Photographic Society, so I’m always looking out for moments of beauty that deserve to be captured.”
Andy Curran, managing director, David Wilson Homes West Scotland said: “Over the last few weeks, we’ve been overwhelmed by the quality of entries showcasing Scotland’s natural beauty.
