A speeding driver who hit and killed a pedestrian as she was crossing the road has been jailed.
Muazzam Luqman was driving a Vauxhall Astra at more than 70mph in a 40mph limit when he struck the 54-year-old on Birmingham Road, Oldbury on 6 August.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. Luqman fled the crash before returning, where he was arrested, said West Midlands Police.
The 22-year-old of Blakeley Hall Road, Oldbury admitted causing death by dangerous driving, and was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court to six years in prison, banned from driving for eight years and will have to take an extended retest.
