The festive spirit hit Newcastle United star Kieran Trippier on Christmas Day.

Trippier, who has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United during the January transfer window, was the first signing of the PIF era.

The defender arrived at the club from Atletico Madrid in January 2022 and is generally seen as the standard-setter at St James’ Park.

Hot take: I’m starting to think Newcastle United should sell Kieran Trippier in January – prove me wrong

Would be painful but need to cash in while we can! 👀

Plus, Lewis Miley has now become the Geordie Maldini 😂

He was a transformative signing, instantly improving Eddie Howe‘s first team all while helping raise the levels of players who were already at the club.

Trippier is one of the greatest signings in Newcastle United history and one of the players he helped improve was no doubt Miguel Almiron.

Kieran Trippier says he misses Miguel Almiron at Newcastle United

The two formed a wonderful partnership down the right-hand side of Howe’s team until reasonably recently.

Indeed, Trippier loved playing with Almiron at Newcastle because of his diligent defensive work.

Jacob Murphy would eventually overtake the Paraguayan, who left Newcastle to return to former club Atlanta United in January of this year.

It was of little surprise, then, that Trippier responded when Almiron posted an image on Instagram in which he was celebrating Christmas with his family.

Trippier commented: “Miss my partner.”

Who is the one player you were FURIOUS with Newcastle United for selling? Go back as far as you want!

I’ll start: I’m still not over Mike Ashley selling Andy Carroll to Liverpool all those years ago!😡

Kieran Trippier’s partnership with Miguel Almiron at Newcastle United

In total, Trippier and Almiron played 89 times together for Newcastle and linked up for one goal, which came against Burnley back in 2023.

Trippier and Almiron had a brilliant relationship at Newcastle, although Murphy was right to have taken his place towards the end of the Paraguayan’s time at the club.

Still, the two represent the most exciting early part of the PIF era at Newcastle.

Trippier brought class, while Almiron’s improvement summed up the work Howe had done to yield vast improvements out of the players he inherited from Steve Bruce.
