Kathryn Chinchen spotted the seal splashing about near Shell Bay and enjoying its dinner on the evening of Sunday, July 27.
It appeared to be eating an eel while floating in the sea.
“We were walking back towards Sandbanks after dinner at the Bankes Arms and saw some splashing in the sea as you turn the corner onto Shell Beach,” said Kathryn.
“At first we thought it was eating a big fish but looking back at the videos, I think it was an eel!
“He was taking its skin off to get to the flesh and we watched it for about 10 minutes.”
Seals are often seen in Dorset, with two species native to the UK, namely grey seals and common seals.
