New parents Demi-Leigh Miller and Brandon Howe had double cause for celebration as they welcomed their first baby on Christmas Day. The couple were expecting Amiyah-Mae to arrive on December 29, but were delighted at her earlier-than-expected appearance.

Amiyah-Mae was born at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, weighed a healthy 7lb 4oz. Mum and baby are both well and still managed to make it home for late celebrations with the family.

Carer Demi-Leigh, 21, and taxi driver Brandon, 24, arrived back in Marske, where the new mum lives with her dad Paul O’Connell and his partner Katie Quinton. Demi-Leigh told Teesside Live: “We weren’t expecting her to come on Christmas Day but it was a such nice little surprise.”

The new mum was induced on Christmas Eve after Amiyah-Mae went “a little bit quiet” but arrived safe and sound just after midnight. “We got home about 4.30pm and we managed to get a Christmas dinner. Only just!”, said Demi-Leigh.

“She’s settled in really well. People are saying she looks a lot like me but I can’t tell just yet.”

She’s absolutely gorgeous – huge congratulations to Demi-Leigh, Brandon and all the family. Thank you for sharing your lovely news and photos with us.
