Faf de Klerk is weighing his options over a potential return to the Gallagher Premiership next season, with his contract at Yokohama Canon Eagles due to expire, Rugby Pass reports.
The 34-year-old Springbok scrum-half has recently returned to pre-season training in Japan, but a move back to England has not been ruled out. According to sources at RUCK, Sale Sharks are now believed to have won the race to secure his signature.
Neil Fissler adds that there is also interest from South Africa, with the Sharks reportedly keeping a close eye on de Klerk’s situation. Newcastle Falcons are similarly in the market for an experienced No.9.
De Klerk began his professional career with the Lions before spending five seasons in the Premiership with Sale Sharks, amassing over 100 appearances prior to his move to Japan four years ago.
