Marvel has released another teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, revealing a first look at Chris Hemsworth’s return to the MCU as Thor. Previously only available in the cinema before screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the teaser trailer dropped online today ahead of the highly-anticipated film’s release in cinemas next year.
While we already knew that Hemsworth was returning for the film, having last reprised the iconic role for 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, the latest trailer gives fans a first look at him back in character.
In the trailer, Thor is seen praying to his father Odin as he prepares to take on a new enemy, presumably Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom.
The trailer also teases the return of Thor’s daughter Love, played by Hemsworth’s real-life daughter India Rose Hemsworth.
Delivering a powerful monologue throughout the trailer, in which he is heard speaking to his late father, Thor says: “Father, all my life I have answered every call, to honour, duty, to war. But now fate has given me something I never sought, a child. A life untouched by the storm.

“Lend me the strength of the All-Fathers, so that I may fight once more, defeat one more enemy, and return home to her. Not as a warrior, to teach her not battle, but stillness, the kind I never knew. Please father, heed my words.”
The end of the stirring trailer states that “Thor will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”
Taking to the comment section on YouTube, fans shared their excitement at the new teaser, with many commenting on its serious nature.

“You know Doctor Doom is a big deal when you have a literal god praying for his survival,” penned one fan, with another writing: “A more serious Thor is always a good thing to see.”
“It seems the less hair Thor has the more serious his character is,” quipped one fan, while another said: “No more funny jokes, we need serious aura Thor back!!”
“This is giving me those old MCU feels. I can’t even imagine the tone and epic feel of everything we are about to witness,” penned another.
Earlier this month, Marvel officially confirmed that the new Avengers team for Doomsday would be made up of Captain America, Thor, Shang-Chi, Falcon and Ant-Man and Loki.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on 18 December 2026.
