Nigel Havers said his wife, Georgiana Bronfman, “flew into a rage” after he agreed to appear on Piers Morgan‘s Life Stories. The 74-year-old gave an in-depth interview about his personal life and 50-year career on the ITV show back in 2017.

Reflecting on his appearance, Nigel admitted it sparked an argument with his third wife of 18 years before they reached a deal.

“George always said that I mustn’t do Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, but they offered me so much money, it was impossible to say no,” he revealed.

“I didn’t tell her I was doing it until the day before recording, and she flew into a rage.”

After “she disappeared for a while,” Nigel said she returned with a compromise.

He recalled: “I did worry, but then she came back and said, ‘You can do the show, but we’re getting a dog’.

“And I said ‘that’s fine,’ although when I suggested calling it Piers, she nearly smacked me,” he added to Saga Magazine.

“We settled on Charlie, a black poodle. Needless to say, I adore her.”

While Georgiana was annoyed at first, the actor redeemed himself by speaking very fondly of her during the interview.

Addressing life her, he told the host: “We had racing friends, because I am crazy about horse racing and so is she.

“She had been single for a long time, I was fairly newly single, and we just rocked on so well,” he added before emotionally continuing: “I’m so happy.”

Nigel went on to praise his “fantastic” wife, adding: “I’m very lucky.”

Asked why he was so emotional while discussing her, he replied: “It’s my luck, I think. We only live once, don’t we? Make the most of it. And I’m just having a wonderful time.”

The presenter also touched upon his first marriage to Carolyn Cox, where he admitted to being unfaithful.

During their marriage from 1974 to 1989, they welcomed one child together, a daughter named Kate.

Touching upon his infidelity while with Carolyn, he said: “I couldn’t resist these gorgeous women. I also always thought it wasn’t such a big deal- it is more now.

“It’s a good thing that I am totally faithful now.”

While their marriage was over, Nigel was said to be by Carolyn’s bedside with their daughter when she died, after a short battle with pneumonia in 2011.

He faced more heartache when his second spouse Polly Williams died from cancer 15 years into their marriage.

Previously speaking on Loose Women, he said: “It was that sudden. It was a major shock, as you can imagine. That’s a very tough one to get.”
