Emmerdale fans believe heartbreak is on the horizon for Sarah Sugden (played by Katie Hill) after her grandmother, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) agreed to be her surrogate. Viewers are aware that Sarah was exploring becoming a mother through IVF, but had to have surgery after doctors discovered she had cervical cancer.

While the operation was successful, doctors were forced to perform a hysterectomy during the procedure due to complications and delivered the devastating news to Sarah that she can never carry her own children. Desperate for Sarah to fulfil her dream, Charity put herself forward to be the surrogate. But with Charity being 49-years-old and taking her previous history with pregnancy into account, she is aware there are a lot of risks involved with carrying a child.

Earlier in the week, Sarah and Charity prepared for her hospital appointment. When Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) arrived at the fertility clinic, Charity told him the procedure went well.

But fans are convinced something down the line will go wrong, theorising that Charity could experience troubles during her pregnancy or that she may want to keep the baby once it’s born.

Taking to Reddit, one wrote: “Is something going to go wrong with Charity or is she going to have the baby and want to keep it?”

Another responded: “If Charity decides she wants to keep the baby and raise it with Mack, I don’t even want to think about the headache that Sarah’s reaction will give me and probably all the viewers. Considering she has done nothing but whinge and shout at anyone who dares tell her what she doesn’t want to hear, this will be another level.”

A third speculated: “I think she’ll want to keep it, as she’ll be the legal mother.”

Another posted: “I feel like the baby will not make it to term, and Jacob and Sarah will not get married. I just don’t see either happening. But who knows?”

But it looks like things could already be going wrong as disaster strikes next week when Charity takes a tumble while on a walk with Mackenzie in the woods.

Back at Jacob Gallagher’s (Joe-Warren Plant), Charity tries to convince herself that everything will be fine when Sarah comes home, and doesn’t tell her about the fall.

However, Charity later rushes to the toilet in pain and tells her ex Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) that she’s been bleeding. Has she suffered a miscarriage?
