Greek kickboxer attacked after match in Serbia descends into violence

Greek kickboxer Giannis Tsoukalas was injured after a WKU World Kickboxing bout at -67 kilograms descended into chaos Sunday in Novi Pazar, Serbia, when spectators and members of the opposing team stormed the ring and attacked him, according to reports.

Tsoukalas defeated Serbian fighter Vahid Kicara by knockout, a result that was met with loud boos from the crowd.

Moments after the bout ended, a group of people entered the ring and assaulted Tsoukalas, causing injuries. The situation quickly escalated as additional individuals joined the confrontation, leading to clashes inside the ring. Reports said about 50 people were involved in the altercation following the fight.

Tsoukalas was later taken to a hospital in Belgrade, where doctors conducted precautionary medical examinations. Medical staff determined his condition was not serious, and he was discharged. He has since returned to Greece.
