Clive Parade Pharmacy will be taking over the former Jhoots Pharmacy located within Moredon Medical Centre at the end of the month.
A spokesperson for Clive Parade Pharmacy said: “Our priority is to restore and strengthen pharmacy services for local patients as quickly as possible following the handover.
“We understand how important reliable access to medicines and healthcare advice is for the community, and we are committed to ensuring continuity of care, supporting patients with prescriptions, and re-establishing trusted pharmacy services at the medical centre.”
Following an outcry against repeated closures and bad service at several Jhoots pharmacies nationwide, Allied Pharmacies Ltd announced the acquisition of 68 additional Jhoots pharmacies on Tuesday, December 30, in addition to the 61 the company acquired earlier this year.
This includes the Jhoots pharmacy at Moredon Medical Centre and the pharmacy at The Health Centre, Curie Avenue, Okus Road, in Swindon, which are among 129 additions to the Allied Pharmacies network.
The total number of branches under Allied Pharmacies’ control now totals approximately 210 in England and Wales.
The chain has said it is committed to bringing pharmacies back to full operational capacity to help local communities and safeguard patient care.
The pharmacy on Curie Avenue was temporarily closed as of November 7 with no reopening date confirmed, forcing Old Town Surgery to put out a message on Facebook encouraging people to nominate a new pharmacy via the NHS App, their GP practice or by contacting another pharmacy directly in order to avoid any prescription delays.
It appears to have reopened since then and it is still operating as usual.
Allied Pharmacies has previously confirmed it is taking over management of the Jhoots pharmacy in Shaw Village Centre, following concerns from local residents about poor service, repeated closures and a lack of pharmacists available to help.
Swindon South MP Heidi Alexander supported the campaign, co-writing to the CEO of Jhoots Pharmacy to demand urgent improvements back in August, and meeting with Jhoots’ CEO, Sarbjit Singh Jhooty in October to discuss the issues raised by the community.
After being taken over by Allied Pharmacies, who rebranded the site as Hearts Pharmacy, it reopened on Monday, December 1.
Elsewhere in Swindon, the Old Town Pharmacy in the Co-Op is set to reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026.
