Coronation Street viewers were “sobbing” after a beautiful moment on the ITV soap. Drama continued on Friday with an hour-long episode dedicated to Debbie and Ronnie’s wedding. Before chaos emerged thanks to the other members of the Webster clan, Debbie managed to have a wonderful ceremony surrounded by her family and friends.
It was an emotional episode from the very start as the broadcast opened with Debbie speaking to the camera. She was filming a video for her future self about the best day of her life- her wedding to Ronnie.
After being diagnosed with dementia last year, Debbie has had a whirlwind time in Weatherfield managing her relationship, duties at the Chariot Square hotel and the unexpected arrival of her half-brother Carl Webster.
She almost ruined everything by ending things with Ronnie, but she soon reconciled with the love of her life and the couple finally got the chance to tie the knot this week.
Despite almost missing her big day after a chaotic walk in the woods with Bernie, Debbie arrived at the wedding venue in style. She was driven in a golf cart by her best friend and was greeted outside by her nearest and dearest.
Debbie looked stunning as she was walked down the aisle by her brothers Kevin and Carl. Before meeting Ronnie at the other end, Debbie stopped to share a heartfelt moment with the dementia choir.

The choir were singing a rendition of “Top of the World” by the Carpenters before Debbie joined in for a solo.
The soap collaborated with a real life dementia choir group called “Vibrant Voices” for filming the scenes, making the moment even more emotional.
Taking to social media during the episode, fans were quick to share their emotions. One said: “15 minutes into Debbie and Ronnie’s wedding and I’m already sobbing.”
A second said: “Debbie singing at her own wedding. Beautiful, beautiful scene!” A third added: “I’m choking up at Debbie singing at her own wedding.”
A fourth wrote: “Loved, loved, loved Debbie and Ronnie’s wedding ceremony. The support from her girl friends was spot on. I cried when she started to sing with the choir. Touching, tasteful, emotional, perfect.”
It was a fabulous episode for Debbie’s group of friends, with lovable scenes and endless laughs. One scene in particular saw the girls gossiping in the bathroom, while Glenda dished out dancing advice and Christina kept turning on the hand dryer by accident.
Beneath the positivity was Abi and Kevin plotting to take Carl down. It’s fair to say he’s ruffled feathers since he arrived on the cobbles, stealing cars, knocking down Tyrone, taking his brother’s wife and cheating on her with another resident of the street.
As Carl’s secrets are ready to be exposed, Kevin saw his chance and almost ruined Debbie’s wedding day. Fans will have to wait until Monday when the drama continues, followed by the highly-anticipated “Corriedale” episode.
