Coronation Street star Jane Hazlegrove has let slip about her character Bernie Winter’s future following her shock collapse next week.
Upcoming scenes will see a hugely dramatic wedding week, peaking with a Bernie struggling to breathe and passing out on the aisle.
Thankfully, it’s not going to be one of those soap weddings that ends in death.
Speaking to My Weekly magazine, Hazlegrove revealed that Bernie won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

“I only came into Coronation Street for 10 episodes to get a new bathroom,” she said.
“I’d run out of money and when they said, ‘Will you come and do Corrie for a bit?’ I thought, ‘Yes! That will pay for a nice white suite!’
“I’ve been here for six years now and I’ve just signed on for another year. It’s a lovely place to work. I feel very blessed.”
The actor also revealed that the cause of Bernie’s collapse is due to allergies, so hopefully she’ll make a quick recovery and she and Dev Alahan can finally tie the knot.

Hazlegrove recently spoke to us at Inside Soap about what makes Bernie and Dev work as a couple.
“They shouldn’t work on paper, but they just do!” she said. “He gets her and they make each other laugh. It’s funny because they’re complete polar opposites – he’s a big thinker and she’s incredibly impulsive, but it works.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
