You only have a couple of weeks left to catch an acclaimed biopic starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones before it leaves Netflix.

Netflix UK and Ireland subscribers have until 15 August to watch The Theory of Everything, the 2014 movie based on the life of theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, looking back on his career and his Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis.

Redmayne stars as Hawking, with Jones playing the scientist’s first wife Jane Hawking, whose memoir provided the source material for the film.

Behind the camera is James Marsh, directing a script by Anthony McCarten. McCarten is a renowned name in the real-life genre, as he penned Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, the Winston Churchill biopic Darkest Hour, as well as The Two Popes and Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody.

Empire called the film a “compassionate and inspiring look” at Hawkins’ “extraordinary life” and praised Redmayne and Jones’ performances as two of the year’s best.

The Independent wrote that turning a scientist’s life into a “highbrow tearjerker” is an “achievement” in itself, while The Irish Times called the movie “a brief history of love […] as complex and deceptively deep as any of the physics”.

Also leaving Netflix in August is Mary Harron’s adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho.
