Emmerdale fans believe they have ‘confirmed’ that an unexpected death will take place in Corriedale, as the drama is just days away from airing. On Monday (January 5), viewers can finally watch the highly-anticipated crossover of ITV soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street as beloved characters collide in this hour-long special.

There’s been hints that a death will happen, but ITV have remained tight-lipped about what the episode will entail apart from a huge car pile-up. This is to celebrate the new “soap power hour” as ITV change their soap schedule to both Corrie and Emmerdale airing every weeknight for 30 minutes each, with no hour-long episodes.

Forty stars from both soaps will be crossing over for one night only with a life-changing event threatening to spill into the different soap worlds forever.

In recent episodes leading to the crossover, actor Oliver Farnworth made his return as John Sugden. It was back in September that John fled from the Dales after his list of harrowing crims including the death of Nate Robinson was exposed.

He returned to win Aaron Dingle back and end Robert Sugden for good. However, he had competition as Robert’s husband Kev Towsnend also arrived to target Aaron.

John ended up holding Kev hostage, before doing the same to Robert and Aaron. As the pair argued on how best to break free, Victoria arrived home to find John in her kitchen. He then held a syringe in front of her, promising it wouldn’t hurt.

The last thing viewers saw was Aaron pretend he was still in love with John before Robert broke free and tackled the ex-Army medic to the ground. He then grabbed the gun to point it at John before the credits rolled.

In Corriedale spoilers, we see John and Aaron involved in the car crash, however viewers are worried that Victoria and Harry may end up as victims of the crash as actress Isabel Hodgins is set to go on maternity leave.

Isabel confirmed her pregnancy earlier last year following on from her wedding, and she’s set to welcome her first child this year with husband Adam.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), @mattphijo theorised: “So what if Vic and Harry are already in the car and unconscious when Aaron and John drive away? What then? And Aaron wouldn’t know that, even when they crash.”

@anniesugden75 agreed: “So is Vic and Harry now in the car already unconscious or unconscious inside the cottage? John planning on going to collect them once he’s picked up Aaron?”

Another viewer @xxgemxxo replied: “I assumed that John probably sedated Vic but left Harry playing in his room? He could just say mummy is sleeping and that he’d be back to pick them up in a bit? Never thought that they might already be in the car… God I hope not”.
