How’s Demi doing? She’s doing just fine. Two days after a nasty crash in the closing kilometres of stage 3, Vollering (FDJ-Suez) isn’t just surviving the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, she’s absolutely thriving.

In a chaotic finale to stage 5, Vollering was one of only seven riders in the lead group over the tough Cat 3 climb that peaked just 7 km from the finish. Not only was she in that group, she’d even put in a brief surge on the way up, showing that her recovery seems to progressing very nicely indeed.

How’s Demi doing?

As managers clash and the race heads for the hills, is Vollering on the improve?

As the likes of Anna van der Breggen (SD Worx-Protime) and Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney (Canyon-SRAM zondacrypto) tried to get away on the descent to the line, Vollering hung tough, ensuring she’d be in the group that contested the stage win.

And it wasn’t like Vollering just rolled in with that group, either. Kim Le Court (AG Insurance-Soudal) won the stage and took back the yellow jersey, but Vollering very nearly beat her on the line when the Mauritian sat up and looked around. The Dutchwoman took a narrow second place, confirming that she is well and truly back on track.
