Corriedale viewers were left asking ‘what is happening’ as they were quick to consider that Shona Platt could be ‘linked’ to the mystery woman who was also involved in the dramatic crash that unfolded.

The special Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover episode aired on Monday night (January 5) and followed the chaotic aftermath of a multi-vehicle collision, with characters from both of the ITV soaps caught up in the horror incident.

The episode revealed that the crash was caused by killer John Sugden and villainous dodgy cop Becky Swain as the pair collided while driving on a country road, sealing the exit storyline of vicar Billy Mayhew, who died after being trapped in a minibus which went up in flames.

The dramatic episode started with DS Lisa Swain answering a call from Carla Connor, before demanding that Becky pull over. However, during the argument, they collided with John, who was being held at gunpoint by ex-husband Aaron Dingle, who told him to turn himself in to the police.

Instead, John removed his hands from the wheel. Moments later a minivan taking Coronation Street residents, including David and Shona Platt, Tracy Barlow and Asha Alahan, back home from Debbie Webster and Ronnie Bailey’s wedding swerved into the mess, before Mackenzie Boyd and Charity Dingle collided into the pile-on.

As residents pulled themselves out of the minivan, Billy was seen stuck in the driver’s seat and despite Theo Silverton appearing to try to help free him, viewers watched him trap the vicar and escape, before the van went up in flames. The episode also marked the end for Emmerdale’s John, showing him lying dead in the woods with a gunshot to the head before revealing his sister, Victoria Sugden, staring back at him.

But amidst the chaos, viewers of Corriedale were intrigued by Jodie’s appearance. She was seen with her hands tied in the back of a van stuck in the queue of traffic forming around the catastrophic accident, with the driver’s identity being hidden.

However, some have wondered if Graham Foster behind the wheel, despite his death in Emmerdale six years ago, as he watched over an injured Joe Tate in the hospital while taking a cryptic phone call in which he told the person on the other end he was “terminating the contract”.

Jodie’s tattoo sparked intrigue

Either way, it was Jodie, who escaped into the woods, followed by DC Kit Green who was hunting for John, who created one of many mysteries as the drama unfolded and Corrie fans spotted a ‘clue’ that seemingly linked her with Shona, who has lived in Weatherfield since 2016.

What’s going on here? #corriedale #Corrie #emmerdale.” @kerri___a asked: “Who is this girl to Shona? They’ve got the same tattoo. #corriedale #corrie #swarla.”

@amy_kap23 shared: “I don’t feel like enough people are talking about Shona and the girl locked in Graham’s van sharing a tattoo #Corriedale #coronationstreet #emmerdale.” @etherealivbensn quizzed: “JODIE AND SHONA HAVING THE SAME TATTOO? THEYRE RELATED?”

@JAli89_91 posted: “Who was the girl in the van? Her tattoo on her hand was the same as Shona’s but Shona’s had been turned into a tree. Are they related or have been through some sort of same experience? #Corridale #Corrie #Emmerdale.” @PaulaAlessPod added: “Everyone wanging on about Jodie having the same tattoo as Shona – I did not notice that, but she looks just like her – which to me was the far more obvs clue that they are related. #Corriedale.”
