At CES 2026, Samsung briefly showed off a new crease-less display panel for foldables that’s seemingly ready for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, but it seems it wasn’t supposed to be shown.

SamMobile spotted a new “Advanced Crease-less” foldable display among Samsung Display’s CES showcase. The new panel was shown next to a “regular” foldable display from the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the difference is immediately noticeable. The display crease, even at an off-angle, is practically invisible. A video showing the display (below) leaves a little bit of a look at a crease, but it’s not bad at all.

It seems likely that this is the sort of display Samsung might want to bring to a future foldable, perhaps even the Galaxy Z Fold 8, but it could also be something Apple is looking to use in its future iPhone foldable.

But it seems like Samsung didn’t mean to show this off.

The Verge later noticed that this crease-less showcase was nowhere to be found, and while Samsung acknowledged the panel’s existence, the company didn’t explain why it had been removed from display. Samsung said:

The foldable panel showcased at the booth was an R&D concept, with no fixed timeline or plan for commercialization.

So, what’s next? It’s possible this could still land in a future device, but it doesn’t really sound like Samsung plans to use it imminently.
