A brief conversation at a restaurant has turned into a viral moment online. A video circulating on social media shows a soft-spoken restaurant manager chatting with a content creator. What begins as a casual exchange soon takes an unexpected turn. The man, initially assumed to be an ordinary staff member, reveals that he is a former ISRO scientist who spent 16 years working as an engineer.

During the interaction, he opens up about his decision to leave the space agency due to “intense pressure” of the job. He explains that satellite assembly demanded absolute precision, where even the smallest mistake could have serious consequences.

After stepping away from ISRO, he opted for a quieter, simpler life as a restaurant manager, a choice he says has brought him peace and relief from constant stress. He shared that he now feels calm and content in his current role. He also revealed that he once received an opportunity to work in the United States, but it fell through due to a minor spelling error in his documentation, altering the course of his career.

From Space Missions To Managing A Restaurant

In the video shared on Instagram, the man says, “I was earlier at ISRO. I worked there as a scientist engineer. I worked there for 16 years, then I left. There was a lot of pressure there, satellite assembly has very high pressure. The tolerance is 0.001. Just to assemble one full part, there are 10 parts. In those 10 parts, each one comes as 0.001, 0.002, 0.003 like that. You have to know which part goes where and what result it will give.”

“One strand of hair has a thickness of about 0.004, around 4 microns. We have to do assembly with a tolerance of 1 micron. If even one hair falls inside after two parts are assembled, it becomes 5 microns. That level of accuracy is needed. There is no pressure in the hotel, I am relaxed. Later, I will join again. There was one chance in the US. All documents were done. My initials are KG, Shrikant KG. It became AG there, so there was a small issue. Because of that, I came here to relax,” the former scientist added.

Here’s How The Internet Reacted

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “He seems very chill and relaxed with his decision and future. He worked so hard for so many years for our country, decided to take a break, joined a completely different job than his previous one, and is looking forward to getting better opportunities. Kind of script you can pull when you are confident about your skills and expertise.”

Another shared, “It’s not payment. Its the level of stress some people leave? I have seen this in NASA, too. He just wants to relax now.”

“Damn, bro looked like he deserved a hug,” a comment read.

An individual stated, “I met him when I was in Trivandrum, he is the most humble and Sweet man ever, and he serves people at all costs, a well-mannered guy.”

One more added, “Wow, I could imagine such tight tolerances, multiple failsafes in the mechatronics and programming, extreme temperature environment and such sensitive equipment. I’d be stressed too, but I’d love it, as long as there isn’t pressure of deadlines.”

Addressing reactions in the comment section, the content creator clarified that the man never criticised ISRO or spoke negatively about the organisation. He merely described the high-pressure nature of the work, without claiming that the job was underpaid or that the institution was at fault. Emphasising that every profession comes with its own challenges, the creator noted that individuals should be free to speak honestly about their experiences and that career changes are a common reality. He added that the former scientist’s journey serves as a positive example, particularly for young people, and stressed that the video was not political in nature nor intended to blame the government in any way.
