Warrington Wolves have confirmed that full-back Matt Dufty has left the club following months of uncertainty.
Dufty had been strongly linked with a move away from the Halliwell Jones Stadium and the club have now confirmed that he has been released from the remainder of his contract by mutual consent.
It’s a decision that brings an end to the 29-year-old’s three and a half year stint at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, with the Australian signing for the club in July 2022 after leaving NRL side Canterbury Bulldogs.
Dufty was dropped by Sam Burgess last season and shortly after the start of pre-season it was confirmed that the full-back had lost the number one shirt, with Cai Taylor-Wray taking on that jersey number for 2026.
There has been some speculation about where he might spend the 2026 season with Widnes Vikings, who have released Jake Maizen in recent days, one club linked. But, it has now been confirmed that he will return to Australia with his partner.
Dufty made 88 appearances for the Wolves during his time at the club and scored 47 tries.
A statement from the club read: “Warrington Wolves can confirm that Matt Dufty has been released from the remainder of his contract by mutual agreement.
“The full-back made 88 appearances for the Wire and will return to Australia.
“We wish to thank Matt for his service to the Club during his three-and-a-half years and wish him well in his future endeavours.
“Matt Dufty said: “I’d like to thank all the players, staff, the board and especially the fans for making Warrington my home for the last three and a half years.
““Me and my partner have absolutely loved our time here, with so many amazing memories on and off the field. I wish the team all the best for this season.” ”
