A sitcom with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating dubbed “a gem of a show” by fans has a new UK streaming home.

Catastrophe, created by Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan, follows the story of primary school teacher Sharon who meets advertising executive Rob in a bar while he is visiting London on a business trip.

They have a brief fling before Rob returns home to Boston, but things become complicated when Sharon discovers she is pregnant with his child, after which he moves to London and they become a couple.

The hit Channel 4 show, which ran for four seasons, won BAFTA and Emmy Awards and was also nominated for a Peabody Award.

For those who want to refresh their memories on Rob and Sharon’s love story, or want to dive into the chaos for the first time, all 24 episodes of the show are now available to stream on Disney+.

Catastrophe holds a rare perfect score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes for its first three seasons, while the fourth sits at a still-very-impressive 95%.

TV Guide said in its review: “You think you know what’s next, but it constantly surprises you because it takes every rom-com trope and willfully, gleefully turns it on its head.”

The Young Folks said it was a “gem of a show”, while The Age added: “It’s a smart premise, niftily jumbling the conventional timeline of romantic relationships on screen.”

Entertainment Weekly wrote: ” Somehow, it’s far more romantic than any rom-com I’ve seen in a long time.”

Speaking about the final ever episode, Horgan revealed how she “lost her shit a little bit” and “broke down a few times” during a script reading.

“When we did our read-through – because you’re reading all six scripts and everyone’s there and most people have been involved with it from the very beginning,” she told RTE Radio One.

“We got to the last scene of the sixth episode and really, really embarrassingly, I kind of lost my shit a little bit.”
