There’s wedding bells on the way for one Coronation Street couple, soap boss Kate Brooks has confirmed.
Carla Connor and Lisa Swain will finally tie the knot “in the not-too-distant future”. Kate told The Mirror how the pair would reunite, and get their “happy ever after”.
Swarla, as they are known by fans, have faced trauma and devastation in recent months, torn apart by Lisa’s evil ex-wife Becky Swain. Corriedale saw Lisa almost lose her life in a horror crash partly caused by a distracted Becky, while Carla had been kidnapped by her weeks prior.
There’s tense scenes in the fallout as the pair try to move past the drama, but Kate says fear not, as the pair do find their way back to each other. With that, it seems the engagement is well and truly back on, and a wedding will happen at some point, while it is yet to be confirmed when.

She told us: “Becky was an absolute obstacle thrown their way, and her true colours have absolutely been revealed for all to see. Lisa’s finally kind of realised the extent of the manipulation and the lies that Becky’s told.
“We’ll see them starting to make their way back to each other. There’s a lot to get past, but they love each other, and that love never faltered throughout it at all.
“The ghost of Becky is finally being put to bed. They can move forward with their lives, and they can look forward to their future together.” Confirming a Swarla reunion, Kate teased when the wedding could happen, or at least something “romantic” was on the horizon.

It seems happiness looms for the couple, fans will be relieved to hear, as the pair look to the future. Kate went on: “They were engaged, so wedding bells are certainly ringing in the not-too-distant future.
“They’ll get their happy ever after, and the chance to finally be free from Becky and the drama that surrounded that story, and be happy with and content with each other. It’s gonna be a romantic spring for Carla and Lisa, which will make many people smile.”
Currently onscreen, Carla is struggling with recent events and the bombshell that Lisa and Becky slept together. With the future uncertain for the pair at this moment in time onscreen, and with Lisa reeling after finally realising the truth about Becky, it’s not looking good.
But Kate’s comments confirm the pair will get through it all, and reunite. When a wedding is likely to air, that remains to be seen!
