Coronation Street viewers said the same as Jodie finally confirmed her identity. Soaps fans have been wondering who the new character could be since she first appeared on-screen during the jam-packed Corriedale crossover episode. The worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale intertwined in a one-hour special broadcast, dubbed “Corriedale”.
A woman could be seen travelling in the back of van as a hostage. Taking to social media during the episode, fans asked: “Who was that tied up in the vehicle?”
The mystery newcomer was listed in the Corriedale cast list as a character called “Jodie”. The hour-long episode saw her transported in the back of a van driven by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster before she was able to escape and run away.
Meanwhile in Weatherfield, Shona Platt gave birth to her baby Harper following emergency surgery after the accident. But a figure lurking in the hospital corridors was none other than Jodie.
Viewers have been making their own predictions on her identity, with many suggesting the actress who plays Jodie looks similar to Julia Goulding (Shona). Fans spotted a telling coincidence when they saw Jodie had a tattoo on her wrist which perfectly matched the tattoo on Shona’s back.
While Friday’s episode was focused on Carl Webster’s scheming antics and Lisa’s bid to get Carla back, Jodie also revealed her identity in a shocking surprise.
As David Platt brought his wife some food from the hospital canteen, a shadow lurking in the hallway appeared around the corner.
Shona said to David: “I know who that is” before Jodie added: “Hi sis”, as she offered her congratulations on their new family member.
Shona apologised for losing touch but said it was not a good time to rekindle their relationship. She asked for her phone number and said she would contact her when things settle down.

But during Shona and Jodie’s small talk, Coronation Street viewers all shared the same response to the new set of sisters on the soap.
On X, fans were quick to praise the show’s casting department, claiming Julia Goulding and Olivia Frances Brown (Jodie) look very much alike.
One said: “I can’t believe how much they have matched Jodie and Shona … the actresses look so alike.” A second said: “Jodie and Shona are brilliantly casted.” A third said: “Jodie is good casting for Shona’s sister.”
Olivia Frances Brown has been sharing updates from set on social media after having to keep her role a secret for the past few months. The Scouse singer and actress is engaged to This City Is Ours star James Nelson-Joyce.
In a recent post on social media, Olivia informed her followers that she is back at Media City UK filming. She posted a mirror selfie from the dressing room as she said: “And we’re back…only this time it’s no longer a secret.”
The actress also re-shared a photo of Shona Platt’s matching tattoo, as she added a mysterious eyes emoji.
