High School Musical 3 star Matt Prokop has reportedly been arrested on a charge of possession of child pornography and four misdemeanour charges.
The former child actor, 35, was arrested and taken into custody in Texas at the Victoria County Jail on Christmas Eve, according to People and TMZ.
Prokop, who is best known for appearing in Disney’s High School Musical franchise, faces four misdemeanour charges, including one count of a violation of bond tied to charges from 2024.
There was also one count of evading arrest or detention and two counts of resisting arrest, search or transportation.Â
He additionally faces a charge of second-degree felony possession of child pornography after a warrant was signed to search his home, as confirmed by People and local publication Crossroads Today.
Prokop is also known for starring in 2011’s Geek Charming opposite ex-girlfriend Sarah Hyland, also 35.

They ended their relationship in 2014 after Modern Family star Hyland was granted a restraining order against Propok following accusations of domestic abuse when he allegedly choked her during a row, which she first revealed in 2014.
It is understood that Hyland was supported by Julie Bowen, who played her TV mum, to leave the relationship.
In 2024, Prokop was also arrested in Victoria, Texas, after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend of the time and slammed her head into ‘something’.
At the time Sergeant Dailey confirmed she had suffered enough injuries to ‘warrant’ an arrest. He was charged with ‘aggravated assault family and resisting arrest.’

As for Hyland, in court documents obtained in 2014 (after which she was granted a three-year restraining order), she claimed Prokop ‘relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails, including his ‘own suicide threats’ after their breakup.
In an interview with Variety last year in which she discussed the importance of speaking about her experiences, she said: ‘For thousands of years now, we didn’t talk about it.
‘The community hasn’t shared enough, I believe. And I feel that if we talk about it more, more women – and men and just human beings in general in abusive relationships – will feel more comfortable to be able to talk about it with their loved ones instead of letting their abuser isolate them from everyone, which is the first thing that they do, so that you don’t have that community.’
Prokop’s first credit is in Hannah Montana in 2007. He also appeared in The Office, Good Luck Charlie and in one episode of Modern Family.
