EastEnders spoilers follow from Thursday’s episode (31 July), which is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer but hasn’t yet aired on BBC One.

EastEnders’ Suki Panesar-Unwin is taking one step closer to her baby dream – after a potentially life-changing conversation with her wife Eve in Thursday’s episode.

The latest visit to Albert Square sees Suki left overjoyed when Eve tentatively agrees to give her idea some serious thought. But with a long way to go, could it all still end in tears for everyone involved?

Tonight’s episode begins with a furious row, after Eve stumbled across the truth over her other half’s plans for Avani Nandra-Hart’s baby.

Although she’d agreed to discuss the idea of having a child with Suki, Eve is flummoxed to learn that Avani is already pregnant and prepared to hand her newborn over to them when the time comes.

As harsh words are exchanged, Eve accuses Suki of manipulating Avani to get what she wants and brands the situation “borderline abuse”.

Suki also doesn’t hold back, though, claiming that Eve doesn’t understand her way of thinking because she’s not a mother herself and isn’t religious.

“You don’t know what it’s like to care for someone above yourself,” Suki says. “You’ve never felt that love. And you know what? You’ve no idea what it feels like to be guided by faith.

“You just bowl through life, Eve – no worries, no plans. Superficial party girl Eve. Well, you know what? I’m driven by more and I want more, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.”

Later, Eve seeks out a heart-to-heart with Stacey, but it’s Avani who later steps in to play the ultimate peacemaker.

Avani insists to Eve that Suki hasn’t manipulated her, then sits the couple down so they can make their apologies and talk things through rationally.

In the end, Eve agrees to give it some thought, but still seems far from convinced as she tells Suki and Avani: “I can’t even believe I’m considering this…”

Spoilers for next week’s episodes have revealed that Eve’s doubts remain, as she tries to find some alone time with Avani to make sure they’re not about to make a big mistake.

Could Eve still throw a spanner in the works for Suki?
