Coventry City’s injury list is due to look a lot lighter this week with the return of two of the club’s four currently sidelined players.

The Sky Blues have been without midfielder Victor Torp, striker Brandon Thomas-Asante and full-back Kaine Kesler-Hayden in recent weeks while goalkeeper Oliver Dovin has been out for almost 12 months.

The good news is that two of Frank Lampard’s key performers are due back on the grass as the head coach and his staff prepare the players for this weekend’s big CBS Arena local derby with Leicester City.

Here’s a look at City’s injury and fitness situation as the league leaders attempt to get back to winning ways against the Foxes.

Victor Torp

Injury: Calf strain

What’s been said: The midfielder has sat out the last three games after suffering a calf issue against Ipswich over the festive period. Lampard said ahead of the FA Cup game at Stoke that the midfielder was “progressing well” and confirmed after the game that the Dane is due back in training this week to prepare for Saturday’s match against Leicester.

Return date: This weekend against Leicester (Jan 17)

Brandon Thomas-Asante

Injury: Hamstring tear

What’s been said: The versatile forward pulled up just before half-time at Middlesbrough in late November, suffering a hamstring tear which Lampard said would mean him being out for at least six weeks. The City boss said that the 27-year-old was “very close” to a return ahead of the trip to Stoke and confirmed afterwards that he, too, was also due back in training this week ahead of the M69 derby.

Return date: Possibly this weekend against Leicester (Jan 17)

Kaine Kesler-Hayden

injury: ankle

What’s been said: The right-back went over on an ankle midway through the New Year’s Day game at Charlton and had to go off and has been out ever since. Lampard said at the weekend that the defender is going to be a couple more weeks after the Leicester match.

Return date: Late January/early February

Oliver Dovin

Injury: cruciate knee ligament rupture

What’s been said: “Yeah, there are times scales and the date of January was always thrown out there from the beginning. I don’t check in on that every day because I don’t think a player and that injury when they’re at this part of the injury needs me going, ‘what’s happening?’

“As it stands it’s January. We hope it could be quicker, maybe it could be later but we have to do everything right.”

Return date: Sometime this month (January).
