Over 1,000 properties across Northumberland were left without electricity on Thursday night. A major power outage resulted in around 1,200 properties being left in the dark.

Areas of Cramlington, Blyth, and Bedlington were impacted, with Northern Powergrid saying they are aware of the unplanned power cuts. The outages were reported shortly after 8pm, with some properties having power restored by around 9.30pm.

Other properties remain without power. A note on the Northern Powergrid website said: “We’re currently reviewing how long it will take to get your power back on. We’ll display the time expected to get your power back on once we have an update from our team.”

Postcodes in the Bedlington appeared to be the worst affected. The cuts stretched from Seaton Delaval up to the Stakeford area of Northumberland.
