The former Celtic winger was a marquee signing for the Serie A outfit in a £17million transfer last summer. but he isn’t quite justifying that price tag just yet.
Kuhn has been in and out of Cesc Fabregas’ side, starting some games but also being used off the bench in others, and is yet to register either a goal or an assist in 16 appearances.
He didn’t start in the most recent game, a 1-1 draw with Lewis Ferguson’s Bologna, and now faces a challenge to get back into the team. Fabregas has hinted the 26-year-old hasn’t been doing enough in training and asked for more.
Speaking in a press conference with the Italian media, he said: “I’ll wait for you and give you more opportunities, yes, but you show me more in training.”
Back when signing the German winger, the former Arsenal and Chelsea star said: “Nico is sharp, technical, and understands space really well. He brings creativity and intensity – qualities that fit exactly how we want to play. He’ll give us something different in Serie A.”
Kuhn said it was an easy decision to join the ambitious Serie A newcomers.
He explained: “I’m really excited to be here. I had a long chat with the coach and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch, familiarise myself with the stadium and play in front of our fans.
“The decision was easy: the project is ambitious, and I want to be part of it, doing my best to help the team grow and achieve increasingly important goals.
“The city is beautiful – a real film set! I’m happy to start this new adventure in such a beautiful place.”
