The defender has returned to the south coast after Graham Alexander changed his mind about keeping him on.
McIntyre made 11 appearances but only three of them were starts in League One. He had hardly featured since the last of those against Barnsley on October 18.
The 27-year-old had been a regular on the bench – but came on for just a solitary one minute in stoppage time in City’s last six games.
Alexander recently told the T&A: “I want to give him some value as in he can be in our starting team week in, week out. But ultimately, he’s trying to break into a very good team.”
McIntyre was not in Portsmouth’s plans and they were happy for his stay to continue. But by letting him go back to the Championship club, the Bantams boss has freed up a loan spot and wages.
