The draw for the first Grand Slam of the year in Melbourne has been made, and the Australian Open is set for some interesting first round clashes, all of which will be live on TNT Sports and discovery+. Defending men’s champion Jannik Sinner will begin his tournament against Hugo Gatson of France, who has never made it past the second round in Melbourne. Sinner does have the dangerous Joao Fonseca in his quarter though. Carlos Alcaraz, at the top of the draw, plays Aussie Adam Walton, which could also mean coming up against a passionate home crowd.Alcaraz and Sinner cannot meet until the final but Novak Djokovic has landed in Sinner’s half of the draw. Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam winner, plays Pedro Martinez in the first round. In the women’s draw, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka takes on wildcard Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah in the first round. picture

Raducanu, on her way back from injury, recorded her first win of the season in Hobart earlier this week.

Francesca Jones will play a qualifier, but could meet 12th seed Elina Svitolina in the second round.

Katie Boulter is up against Belinda Bencic in a very tough first round draw, while Sonay Kartal takes on 31st seed Anna Kalinskaya, and would meet Swiatek in the third round if she goes on a run in Melbourne.

Arthur Fery takes on 20th seed Flavio Cobolli in what promises to be an entertaining, if tough, match for the qualifier.
