Leigh Leopards centre Umyla Hanley has signed a new two-year deal to remain with the Super League club until the end of the 2028 season.

The 24-year-old, son of rugby league legend Ellery, joined Leigh in 2023 having spent two seasons with Wigan Warriors.

Hanley, who has also played on the wing and at full-back, has made 59 appearances for the Leopards in all competitions and scored 27 tries.

“I’m absolutely buzzing, I absolutely love this club,” he told the club website., external

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here and hopefully we can build on last season.”

During his time with Leigh, Hanley has won the Challenge Cup as well as being named in last season’s Super League Dream Team.

He formed an effective partnership with Keenan Brand last season as Leigh went on to finish third in the Super League table.

“The scary thing is, I think there’s still a lot to come from him, there are also leadership qualities in him that are starting to shine through,” boss Adrian Lam said.

“We are grateful that he will play a major part of our future and our success.”
