One of the added stars of this three-episode adaptation is the stunning Devon coastline. Available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

The Pale Horsetwo individuals in an intimate setting one appearing distressed

BBC

Starring fan favourite Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) this 2020 two-part drama might be set in a quintessential English village in the 1960s, but there’s a lot more going on behind the hedgerows than Morris dancing! There’s a chilling, uneasy feeling to this one, definitely less cosy crime and more psychological thriller, with a nod towards the occult, witches and the supernatural. The costumes and style of this of show are beautiful – but we can’t help saying look out for the stuffed polar bear! Available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

The grand Argyll House might be dripping in wisteria, sweeping staircases and have the idyllic name Sunny Point– but, of course (this is a Christie, after all), there are also closets full of dead bodies. This three-part mini-series was first broadcast in 2018 and is set at Christmas in 1954 starring Bill Nighy, Matthew Goode (Dept. Q) and the loveable Anne Chancellor. The drama begins when wealthy anthropologist Rachel Argyll is murdered at the family estate and her adopted son Jack is arrested – but the body count doesn’t stop there. We should start by sharing the cast of this one: Aidan Turner, Charles Dance, Miranda Richardson, Anna Maxwell Martin… it’s exceptional. As is the story this series based on. Set in 1939, the three-part drama follows ten strangers who are invited to a remote island off Devon’s coast. So far, so mysterious. But, in true Christie style, the guests are soon murdered one by one. The question is: can they find the killer among them before they’re all gone? Available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
