The men behind Towntickers criticised Fakenham as a place with “zero atmosphere” after paying a visit on a quiet non-market day last October.

A measly score of just four out of seven cemented the town, known as the “racing capital” of Norfolk due to its thriving horse racing scene, as among the worst in the county.

Watton, which they controversially called “rotten”a comment that sparked a hitback from the mayor of the town – was bestowed with just three and a half stars.

Naturally, Fakenham locals were left feeling a bit sore about the low score.

But they were still glad to have escaped the rather unfortunate accolade of being dubbed Norfolk’s worst town by the rhyme-spitting duo… or so they thought.

Towntickers have now released a video recapping all of the towns they visited in 2025.

In the reflective clip, they announce a variety of award style categories, such as “most controversial rating”, “most viewed clip” and “most disappointing”.

And in one section, titled “most regretted score”, they retrace their steps back through Fakenham – and decide that it is, in fact, just as “rotten” as Watton.

“The score we regret the most was boring Fakenham town. The disappointing, lifeless place should be half-marked down,” they quipped, officially crowning Fakenham as the worst town in Norfolk.

Towntickers’ review of the town courted controversy even before they decided to bump their score down.

One commenter, upon hearing the reviewers visited on a Saturday, said: “Fakenham comes alive on Thursday, when the market and auction room are open.”

Another hit back by saying: “It’s not usually this quiet. Cannot judge on one visit. Come on a Thursday, it’s brilliant.”

While another simply said: “You picked the wrong day.”
