BBC viewers have just discovered that a star of The Night Manager has a rather famous mum.

The second series of the popular BBC One thriller kicked off earlier this month and is currently keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The initial series, which aired in 2016, centred around ex-British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston), who managed a luxury hotel in Cairo at night.

Jonathan was enlisted by Angela Burr (Olivia Colman), the head of a Foreign Office task force probing illegal arms sales. Angela hired him to infiltrate the inner circle of a clandestine arms dealer without blowing his cover.

One character from the first series was young actor Noah Jupe, who portrayed Daniel ‘Danny’ Roper, the son of Richard ‘Dickie’ Roper, played by Hugh Laurie.

Noah, now 20, has reprised his role in The Night Manager for the second series, once again sharing the screen with the likes of Tom Hiddleston, reports Wales Online.

Viewers were taken aback to discover that Noah’s real-life mum is a well-known actress and a Coronation Street stalwart.

Noah’s mother is actress Katy Cavanagh, 52, who played Julie Carp in Coronation Street from 2008 to 2015 and made a comeback to the ITV soap last year for Eileen Grimshaw’s exit storyline, portrayed by Sue Cleaver.

In a heart-wrenching plot twist, Katy’s character Julie was written out and killed off last year. Besides Coronation Street, Katy has also been recognised for her roles in The Cops, The Bill, Bob and Rose, and Murder on the Blackpool Express.

However, Katy isn’t the only one in her family with a touch of stardom. She’s the proud mum to two budding Hollywood actors, Noah and his younger brother Jacobi, 11.

Katy and her producer husband Chris Jupe are parents to three children, including their actor sons Noah and Jacobi.

Both Noah and Jacobi recently graced the big screen in the film Hamnet, sharing the spotlight with Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal and Joe Alwyn. Jacobi portrayed Hamnet Shakespeare, son of William and Agnes and twin to Judith, while Noah took on the role of Hamlet.

Prior to Hamnet, Jacobi appeared in the 2023 Disney film Peter Pan and Wendy as Michael Darling, and also featured in TV shows Britannia, Tom Jones and Before.

On the other hand, Noah has an impressive roster of roles under his belt. He starred in the horror flick A Quiet Place and its sequel A Quiet Place Part II alongside Emily Blunt, John Krasinski and Cillian Murphy, playing Marcus Abbott, the on-screen son of Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Lee (John Krasinski).

His other notable roles include Henry Fraser in The Undoing, where he acted alongside Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, and the film Suburbicon, starring Matt Damon and Julianne Moore.

Fans were taken aback when they discovered the familial link between Katy and her son Noah. Reacting to a Facebook post that revealed the connection, one fan expressed: “Katy and her son Noah.”

Another user shared their astonishment, writing: “I love Julie! And I didn’t know that was her son!”.

Other fans shared similar reactions: “I can’t believe the son in the undoing is the real son of the woman that played Julie in Corrie.”

Another enthused: “I thought I recognised him!”.
