A pilot project offering subsidised transport to people with mobility difficulties is searching for volunteer drivers.

Healthy Living Centre Dartford, with support from Dartford Borough Council, has started a 12-month initiative offering low-cost lifts to medical appointments for over 50s in the Kent borough.

Drivers are being sought to provide the service, while anyone with ongoing health conditions, mobility issues or who lives remotely are invited to sign up for the service.

Healthy Living Centre chief executive Sharon Phillips said the scheme “fills a critical gap in our community transport network”.
