At the age of just five, Rory Henshaw is currently in America to represent Trefloyne Golf Club, in the USKidsGolf Finals, at Sandestin in Florida.
The champion Tenby golfer flew out to the States on Tuesday, January 13 and had his first practice round three days later, on January 16.

Last weekend saw him taking on his rivals at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Florida, competing on the Raven and Baytowne Courses.
Rory qualified thanks to a series of wins in his category on the tour run by USKidsGolf across the UK.
His first win was at Wernddu, Abergavenny, on September 20 last year, followed by The Monmouthshire on October 11, where he wasn’t alone – Liliwen Thomas, another Trefloyne star, won the Girls’ eight and under category.
He then went on to win at Fairwood Park on October 26 and Bargoed on October 29. To round off his fantastic season he won the Boys six and under Tour Championship, at the USKidsGolf Finals at The Grove, Porthcawl, on November 2.

Rory’s golfing story started when he joined Trefloyne Junior Golf Academy in 2023, at the age of three.
Rory’s enthusiasm, commitment and dedication impressed Trefloyne’s head golf professional, PGA Fellow Matthew Rees, so much that he made an exception and lowered his minimum age significantly.
Coaching sessions on the driving range led to three-hole competitions in Trefloyne’s Junior Sunday Club. From there he quickly progressed to five-hole competitions and then the full nine hole medals, where he achieved his first handicap of 49.3, at the age of five.

Rory is a regular in Trefloyne’s Junior Sixes matchplay team’s round-robin matches with Haverfordwest and Milford Haven. He won medals in each category as he progressed, took the Easter Cup and, and won the Ping competition at Haverfordwest and the Wales Golf Mini Masters at Trefloyne and Pennard. He came joint third at the final of the Ping Junior Golf Tour at Carmarthen.
Not surprisingly, he was Trefloyne Junior Section Champion for 2025.

The local community has pulled together to help cover the expense of Rory’s trip to the states.
Rory and his family are very grateful to everybody who contributed to the crowd funding efforts; Trefloyne members and management who raised and gave about £1,300, and Tenby and County Trust who donated £500.
“Knowing Rory, he’ll take it in his stride and do his level best,” said his friends at Trefloyne. “We’re all right behind you, Rory.”
