After announcing his return to the ring despite retiring in January last year, Tyson Fury has taken to social media to show how well his training is going.
Fury suffered back-to-back defeats to heavyweight kingpin Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, and by January 2025, had confirmed his intention to retire. However, The Gypsy King has developed a bit of a reputation for retiring then returning, with this being the fifth time he has done so.
He first retired in 2013 after getting frustrated when David Haye withdrew from their scheduled fight, before quickly returning only months later. After winning the world title for the first time with a shock win over Wladimir Klitschko in Germany, the Manchester-native struggled with depression and walked away from the sport.
He returned to beat Deontay Wilder and win the heavyweight title again, before once again calling it quits after defeating Dillian Whyte in 2022. He returned to the ring later that year to face Derek Chisora, before going on to win the heavyweight title again.
Tyson Fury’s Current Physique

Ahead of his latest return to action, Fury has been showcasing his training on social media, and recently posted a photo of his current condition. After sparring with rising Chinese heavyweight, Yihang Yang, he posed for a photo alongside the 21-year-old and looked in brilliant condition.
The 37-year-old has often struggled with his weight, especially away from any up-and-coming fights. But it seems that he is taking his most recent comeback seriously, as he showed off his slim physique.
Although there has been nothing confirmed regarding Fury’s next opponent, it seems something could be in the pipeline, based on where the former champion seemed to be in his preparation.
Tyson Fury’s Return Fight
At one point, it seemed that Fury was preparing for a long-overdue all-British bout with another former heavyweight champion in Anthony Joshua. But due to a horrendous incident in Nigeria at the back end of December, which left Joshua hospitalised and killed two important members of his team, it has been rumoured that the Olympic gold medallist is stepping away from the sport for good.
Fury’s ultimate goal will be another shot at the world heavyweight title. In order to do so, he will need to have a couple of tune-up fights, at least.
He has been offered a shot at WBO heavyweight champion, Fabio Wardley. But, considering the year-and-a-half that the 31-year-old has had, which included wins over Frazer Clarke, Justis Huni, and Joseph Parker, it would be a daunting task, even for Fury, to walk straight into such a fight without any warm-up.
