Season 4 is set to be released later this year

Filming for Blue Lights Season 4 appears to have kicked off as production have been spotted shooting scenes in Belfast.

The Belfast-set police drama, which first aired in 2023, stars Sian Brooke as Grace Ellis, Katherine Devlin as Annie Conlon and Nathan Braniff as Tommy Foster.

Blue Lights kicked 2025 off with a Best Drama Series win at the Broadcast Awards. It also went on to win Best Drama Series at the BAFTA TV Awards in May.

The fourth season of Blue Lights was confirmed when the third was renewed back in February 2024. Since then the production crew appear to have been spotted filming at a makeup studio in North Belfast.

‘Studio A’, a Belfast makeup studio, uploaded a story to Instagram and captioned the video “Blue lights in filming in the studio today”. While the video only shows the back of crew members, you can hear someone with a thick Northern Irish accent say “the risk concerns all of us”.

The show’s co-creators and writers, Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson, said in a statement about Season 4: “We’re thrilled that the BBC is committing to Blue Lights in this way. From the beginning, we wanted to write a show that had scale and ambition in its storytelling, and this decision gives us everything we need to do that.

Lawn and Patterson’s production company confirmed the new series will air this year year They wrote on X, alongside a picture with the cast: “Thanks to everyone who watched #bluelights series three. See you in 2026 for the next chapter!”
