Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks is bringing back a fourth member of the McQueen family as part of John Paul’s huge exit storyline.

James Sutton has played the role of John Paul since 2006, with his most recent stint lasting seven years. The actor made the decision to step back from the soap, with his final storyline seeing the return of some familiar faces.

The latest name to be added to the list is none other than Michaela McQueen, John Paul’s sister, played by Hollie-Jay Bowes.

Michaela was the first of the McQueens to appear in the soap back in 2006 before leaving in 2010. Her most recent appearance in the village was in 2012.

Fans have been anticipating that Bowes could make a return as Michaela after she appeared on the Hollyoaks Unwrapped podcast in November alongside Sutton.

In the episode, Bowes was asked if she thought Michaela could make a return to the village, with the actor stating that she believes her character is “having a lovely time in Alicante”.

So far Gemma Merna, who plays Carmel McQueen, and Leah Hackett, who plays Tina, have both been reported to be appearing in the special episode, which airs next month.

Earlier this week, Digital Spy exclusively revealed that David Tag will also make a return as Sylver McQueen, four years on from his dramatic exit scenes.

“Sylver is returning as part of the special McQueen episode featuring fantasy scenes,” our Hollyoaks source revealed.

“The episode has a ‘What If?’ theme, exploring various scenarios which could have changed the course of the McQueens’ lives over the years. John Paul is questioning his life choices and is asking what could have been different.

“David filmed some very entertaining scenes with James Sutton, who plays John Paul, and it was great to see him back on set after such a long absence.”

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
