The bizarre rumour circling on social media that Anthony Ralston had his passport cancelled has been shut down by Martin O’Neill.
A mischievous post had been widely shared among Rangers and Celtic fans which included two screenshots, one of which appeared to show official correspondence that Ralston’s passport was ineligible for the trip to Italy.
That led to murmurs among fans that Ralston hadn’t travelled with his teammates for their penultimate Champions League clash.
But when asked about it, O’Neill confirmed there was nothing to it as he simply said: “Yeah, he’s fine.”
It wasn’t the only rumour given short shrift by the boss who was keen to keep the focus on the game at hand – which could see Celtic take a big step towards qualifying for the playoff round.
Arne Engels reportedly has interest from RB Leipzig in Germany but O’Neill said: “If some of our players are attracting attention that’s well done to them if that’s the case.
“I would like to think that we could add to the squad and then we’ll see what happens after that.”
New signings are on the way at Celtic with striker Tomas Cvancara on his way for a medical. Asked about new signings beyond that, O’Neill said: “That would be nice. We need some help.
“We’ve got some time to get a few more players in if it’s at all possible. I’m hoping there will be.”
