Having spent the entirety of his senior career at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, the forward has no plans to change that any time soon as he enters his 15th season in the first team.

That longevity makes the 31-year-old the club’s longest-serving player but as things stand, he is entering his final year with his contract expiring at the end of 2026.

Currie insists he will let his future take care of itself either way but insisted his preference was to extend his stay with the club whose academy he progressed through to make his senior debut back in 2012.

“Ideally, I’d like to stay,” he told the Warrington Guardian.

“It’s a great legacy to leave behind as not many people can say they’ve only played for one club these days, but let’s see what happens.

“Hopefully, that takes care of itself. It can be good or bad for players coming into a contract year, but I’m comfortable with it and happy with where it’s at.

“Whether it’s done before the season or whether it goes into the year, I’ll just try and keep performing and let that take care of itself.”

Having ticked beyond the 300 appearance mark in Warrington colours during 2025, Currie was on track to be the only Wire player to appear in every Super League match before opting to bring forward bicep surgery, meaning he missed the final four matches.

It also meant he took himself out of the running to play for England in the Ashes series against Australia, with the now-former national team boss Shaun Wane a known fan of his versatility.

What that decision did do, however, was give Currie the chance of a full and unhindered pre-season – and he says he is already feeling the benefits.

“I think I missed the last three or four games and my off-season, but I was good to go by the time pre-season came around,” he said.

“From a club and personal point of view, it probably wasn’t a bad time to get an injury.

“If our season was going better and we were in the play-offs, I’d have pushed that surgery back, but it made sense to try and get a better pre-season into this year to do it there and then.

“The body’s feeling really good – we’ve had a bit of fitness testing this week and I feel 21 again!”
