James Ward-Prowse is set to be offered a lifeline from his West Ham United nightmare.

To say that Ward-Prowse is not in Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans at West Ham would be an understatement.

The midfielder – a £30million signing from Southampton in 2023 – hasn’t played under Nuno since he was appointed as West Ham manager in September.

In the age of set-pieces, why aren’t West Ham making more of James Ward-Prowse?! 👀

He was getting David Beckham comparisons at one point!

While Ward-Prowse has hardly covered himself in glory while playing for the Hammers, the fact he’s not been used at all is somewhat strange, given the emphasis on set-pieces across the Premier League this season.

Now, it seems as if Ward-Prowse’s problems at West Ham could come to an end.

Burnley explore possibility of signing James Ward-Prowse

According to Sky Sports, Burnley have made initial moves into a potential deal for the former Southampton star.

The Clarets, of course, are managed by former Hammers captain Scott Parker.

Sky suggest that the Turf Moor side have “explored the conditions” of a potential loan move for the 31-year-old.

Urmmmmm….what?! How would you feel if West Ham SOLD Summerville to Spurs?! 🤔

It’s further claimed that Burnley want an experienced Premier League operator following the injury to Josh Cullen.

Ward-Prowse would certainly fit that mould.

The big reason West Ham United need James Ward-Prowse to leave

Ward-Prowse’s contract ends in 2027, so there is not much time left to extract any value out of him.

Little about what he’s done in a West Ham shirt has done that, and his exile from the first team under Nuno has helped even less.

With that in mind, the club could really do with Ward-Prowse heading out on loan and making some kind of impact.

It would raise his market value and while recouping the kind they paid for him seems impossible now, it could see him command something of a substantial fee at least.

Indeed, Ward-Prowse’s move to West Ham has been a disaster and there is little salvaging it.

The only slight positive would be watching him impress elsewhere and at least doing something to drive up his value.
