A mysterious van has been spotted driving through Belfast emblazoned with the words “Report Fenian Activity”.

The billboard carried a single instruction “Call the Fenian Hotline today” and directed the public to a freephone line. Callers hear a short recorded message and are then invited to leave their own “report”.

As the vehicle moved through the city, it drew attention from passers-by, with people stopping to photograph the message. The billboard urged people to call ‘0800 955 1916’ to report the activity.

Belfast Live can confirm that this number takes you to an automated voicemail message. Callers are met with the following message: “Hello you are through to the Fenian hotline. If you’re calling to report Fenian activity. His Majesty extends his gratitude discreetly, of course. After the tone, please do leave your message.”

It continues by urging callers “Please don’t include names, phone numbers, or exacts. Just a general description of what you’ve seen or heard. If you’d like a format to begin with, I wish to report. Thank you for your service for king and country.”

There are no further details at this time about who owns the van or the purpose for the hotline.
