This weekend, one day racing is back at the forefront of the World Tour as the post-Tour de France cobwebs are blown out at Clasica San Sebastian 2025. Now confirmed to be amongst the star-studded startlist is Primoz Roglic, leading the Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe team.

Roglic didn’t have the best Grand Tour of his career at the Tour de France, finishing 8th overall, but in the third week seemed to be growing in form, attempting a number of long-range attacks from the breakaway. The Slovenian also hasn’t raced Clasica San Sebastian since DNFing the Spanish race back in 2018. His only other attempt ended in a 21st-place position in 2017, as Roglic crossed the line 38 seconds down on eventual winner Michal Kwiatkowski.

It’s also unclear as of yet what exactly this means for the likelihood of Roglic starting the Vuelta a Espana. After already having competed at the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France this year, a trip to the Vuelta wasn’t expected, but given he’s back racing and back in Spain, could it be a possibility?

Joining Roglic for Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe this time around is a strong team. Italian trio Giovanni Aleotti, Giulio Pellizzari and Matteo Sobrero offer good support, as do German duo Nico Denz and Ben Zwiehoff. In a potential second option for victory however, Maxim van Gils could be given a free role to ride for himself.

Roglic and Van Gils are far from the only contenders for the win however. Also expected to be in the fight for victory are notable names such as Ion Izagirre, Juan Ayuso, Isaac del Toro, Mikel Landa, Cian Uijtdebroeks, Oscar Onley and Giulio Ciccone among others.
